Let's talk Eagles. Now I'm not going to lie, being an Eagles fan is rough at times. But it's all I know how to do, ie, the 07-08 season. We were supposed to dominate the NFC. We didn't even come close. With that said though, I saw alot of things about them that leads me to think that a much better season awaits us in the 08-09 season.

What went wrong in the last season? McNabb. I'm a huge McNabb supporter, I'm not one of those fans quick to throw him to the dogs. That being said, the blame can be placed on him for the Eagle's dismal performance last season. Now you can argue that aside from Westbrook, we really have no playmakers on offense and LJ Smith's injury certainly didn't help. But even with better wideouts on offense, we wouldn't have fared much better. McNabb was hurt. He wasn't 100%. He was basically grounded, lacking his agility and speed that made him such a monster in our Superbowl season. Yet despite this, we still placed him in a West Coast offense because honestly, that's what the Eagles do and that's what they do well. With a hurt quarterback however, it just flops. Towards the end of the season you could see McNabb coming back to his past greatness. Moving around in the backfield, escaping the pressure and getting the ball out to win the last three games of the season to finish 8-8. If this is any indication of what we're going to be like at the start of next season, then we're going to be good to go. Not to mention Westbrook, in my opinion one of the most underrated backs in the league.

Now on defense. We were always good on defense. Last season was no exception. We've had some bad games due to injuries, but overall our defense continues to grow stronger, especially with the addition of Asante Samuel. As much as I used to hate this ex-Patriot, as I do all Patriots, I have to admit his capabilities as a cornerback. I do have to say though that I'm sad at seeing Lito Sheppard no longer starting and up for the possibility of trade. He will always be one of my favorite Eagles although we could possibly get a great offensive player for him, which we would benefit greatly from.
