i am a living breathing contradiction

i am the amalgamation of contradictions contradictories that make up my personality

who else you know is always preaching the dangers of mainstream hiphop and how its destroying the culture...

while his speakers are asking you who mike jones is who?

but these contradictions run deeper into my roots

where im torn between myself

where my parents are from an eastern world but i was born into a western world

so im caught inside this middle space

between being called a gook and being called a chink

to where i cant tell which is which so ill take offense to both of them

between being taught that calling someone oriental is bad but calling something oriental is good

so ill start using the word honkey but try not to take offense im talking about the carpet not you

how else do you explain a nation of immigration trying to stop immigration

they tell them they are not welcome here

but i seriously doubt the native americans greeted the european settlers with

'please bring me disease kill me rape me take my land i want you to'

we live in a nation where a president was taken to trial and was facin

impeachment just for having a little fun on the side

but the same nation is complacent when the current president is lying to our faces

and killing thousands of innocent natives in a war for resources

when the president is on vacation while citizens of our own nation

are drowning dying and crying for help in a disaster he claimed to have no knowledge of

but the tapes dont lie and we all saw the contradictions in those recorded conversations

this is the nation that tells black men they are emancipated while placing them in cuffs

this is the nation where vincent chin was beaten to death with baseball bats and his assailants

were let go on probation without any incarceration

this is a nation where the news tells me that rap is to blame for violence while

cnn is showing me a town in iraq get blown the fuck up in crisp high definition live television
